Atlanta United defeated Toronto FC 3–1 on Sunday, 1 November, with Miguel Almirón and Alexey Miranchuk both contributing a goal and an assist. Miranchuk’s through ball released Almirón for the opener in the 22nd minute, as recorded in ESPN’s match commentary and final statistics.
Different contributors, a three-goal advantage
Almirón then supplied Cooper Sanchez for the second goal after 40 minutes. Miranchuk completed the home side’s scoring in the 51st, giving Atlanta a three-goal cushion early in the second half. Lewis Morgan’s 79th-minute reply, assisted by Josh Sargent, reduced the margin but did not change the outcome.
Atlanta finished with 20 attempts and eight shots on target. Toronto registered 13 attempts and three on target, despite having 51.7% of the possession. The contrast shows why the ball-possession split alone does not describe the attacking balance of this particular match: Atlanta generated more than twice as many accurate attempts. The timing of the third goal also left Toronto trying to recover a much larger deficit before their eventual reply.
