Al Sadd face Al Ahli Saudi on Monday, 2 November, with the teams approaching their fourth AFC Champions League Elite match from very different positions. Sadd are still seeking a first victory, while Ahli remain unbeaten, as described in AFC’s official match preview.

One point against seven

The season standings before kick-off give Sadd one point from a draw and two defeats. They have scored once and conceded six. Ahli have seven points from two wins and a draw, with six goals scored and three conceded. The Qatari side’s challenge therefore involves improving their scoring return as well as closing the points gap.

The fixture is listed for 18:00 in Jerusalem, or 19:00 in Doha and Saudi Arabia, on the match card. A Sadd victory would take them to four points; an Ahli win would produce a ten-point total. Those figures explain what is at stake without presenting either outcome as settled. The existing records belong to the first three rounds and should be distinguished from the result of the match still to be played.
