Alessia Russo earned Arsenal a point against Aston Villa with an 85th-minute equaliser in a 1–1 draw on Sunday, 1 November. ESPN’s report first published that afternoon says Arsenal have won only once in their past five WSL matches, placing the result within a wider sequence of dropped points.
Chasity Grant put Villa ahead in the 25th minute. That lead survived until Russo headed in Stina Blackstenius’s delivery late in the game. The match record lists 28 Arsenal attempts against one for Villa, with eight Arsenal shots on target. The difference illustrates the opportunities Arsenal created, but Villa’s solitary attempt still produced a goal.
A point with limits
Arsenal now have ten points from eight games, 12 behind Chelsea and Manchester City on 22, as shown in the current table. Villa also have ten points from eight games, but Arsenal sit above them on goal difference: −1 compared with Villa’s −5.
