Viviane Asseyi scored twice as West Ham beat Liverpool 4–1 in the WSL on 1 November. West Ham’s official website says the France forward has now scored six goals across all competitions this season. That total should not be presented as her league tally alone.
Asseyi opened the scoring with a seventh-minute penalty. Leila Wandeler and Laia Codina added goals in the 15th and 44th minutes, before Asseyi struck a free-kick in the 62nd. Vivien Endemann replied for Liverpool in the 72nd, according to the event record. Asseyi’s two goals thus came from different dead-ball situations.
A change in their relative positions
Liverpool had 60.5% possession in ESPN’s statistics, but West Ham produced 16 attempts and eight on target, against Liverpool’s 12 and four. West Ham reached nine points and tenth place, moving one point and one position above Liverpool after eight games in the current standings. Those figures give the performance a consequence beyond the scoreline.
