AC Milan beat Inter 3–1 after scoring all three of their goals before half-time. Christian Pulisic opened the scoring in the fourth minute and Adrien Rabiot added the second in the tenth. Alessandro Bastoni replied for Inter after 22 minutes, before Diego Moreira restored Milan’s two-goal cushion in the 43rd.
An early advantage and a response before the break
The opening ten minutes gave Milan a two-goal lead. Bastoni’s reply then left Inter within one successful attack of drawing level, with much of the game still ahead. Moreira’s goal changed that position again before the interval, sending the teams into the second half at 3–1 rather than 2–1.
Its timing consequently deserves attention beyond its place as the third goal. It followed Inter’s answer and arrived before a fresh period of play. The second half then preserved the same score without another goal being recorded.
Attempt totals and outcomes measure different things
ESPN lists 19 Inter attempts and eight on target, compared with seven Milan attempts and four on target. Inter also held the larger possession share at 56.9 per cent. The final result nevertheless contained three Milan goals and one for their opponents.
Milan scored three times from four attempts classified as on target in the source. Inter’s greater volume did not produce an equaliser. That is a descriptive comparison, not a complete assessment of chance difficulty or proof of an alternative result that should have occurred.
Nor does Inter’s shot count mean they were certain to lead or controlled every minute. The scoring timeline establishes something different: Milan struck first, extended the advantage and restored a two-goal gap after their rivals reduced it.
Three contributions to one victory
Pulisic, Rabiot and Moreira each scored once. The win therefore did not depend on a single-player hat-trick. Their contributions also served different functions: an early breakthrough, an extension of the lead and an answer to a goal that had brought Inter closer.
Bastoni’s finish remained Inter’s only reply despite the higher number of accurate attempts. The absence of further goals is not assigned to an individual forward or goalkeeper without a detailed review of the chances. The difference between the recorded workload and the goals actually scored is the limit of the evidence used here.
Questions for the next fixtures
Milan’s fast start and preservation of the score after half-time merit follow-up, as does Inter’s ability to turn future attacking volume into goals. These are editorial questions arising from one match rather than final judgments on an entire season or guarantees about league position.
The derby is reported with its event date, and any points or ranking discussion should use the updated league table. Its statistics are not merged with a women’s fixture or a previous meeting merely because the clubs share the same names.
