Álex Berenguer restored Athletic’s advantage with a penalty two minutes into first-half stoppage time. ESPN’s timeline places the spot-kick immediately before the interval. Athletic therefore began the second half back in front after Sociedad had erased the initial lead.
No further goals followed. Sociedad finished with 62 per cent possession, 14 attempts and five on target, compared with Athletic’s 13 and three.
